Ambulance Involved In Wakefield Crash Had Patient On Board: Police

An SUV that took a too tight of a turn crashed into an ambulance with a patient inside, officials say.

Police responded to reports of a car crash around 10:37 a.m. on Friday, March 31 in the area of 721 Main Street in Wakefield to find that an Audi SUV had crashed into an ambulance from Cataldo Ambulance Services, according to the Wakefield Police Department.

The driver of the Audi crossed over a double yellow line while driving around a bend on Main Street and crashed into the rear of the driver's side of the ambulance.

The ambulance was transporting its patient to the Melrose Wakefield Hospital at the time of the incident. Another ambulance was dispatched to the scene of the crash to take over the patient's transportation. 

No injuries were reported from the crash. Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.

The driver of the Audi received citation for a marked lanes violation, police say.
